Saturday Meetup at the Crest Theater

We just had another awesome meetup last Saturday in Downtown Sacramento. Great team of models, makeup artists, photographers, and Fashion Designers.  It was funny that we got kicked out of the Crest Theater cause of some misunderstanding with Management.  However we managed (no pun intended) to come through with the shoot and it came out really well.  It's all about the creativeness of these photographers and the models.

Church Event

I think i have hay fever from my last photo shoot in Knights Ferry.  Anyway, it didn't stop me from fulfilling my job to do the communion pictures last Saturday.  I think i did better this time around especially i know what the expectations are coming from the parents and so forth. However, there was a little gaffe from the second ceremony because Father wanted to speed up the process so he invited one of the priest to assist in the communion process.  Which means i have to take pictures from numerous angles and then move on to the other one which was really crazy.  I dont think i captured enough to make it worth while and profitable.  I haven't had the chance to check out the pictures yet but i will find out come tonight.

I just got back from my dry run and light testing with my local church Good Shepard Church for our communion pictorial this coming Saturday.  It's going to be really hectic doing a back to back masses and expecting 120 kids.

This year i will be providing a package deal for the parents instead of just ordering online.  However, they can still order individual prints online.  Hope this year will be a little smoother than last year.

My first official meetup

Guess what?  It's finally over!  My very first meetup that I hosted was a success.  Everyone enjoyed their time, from the models, mua, designers, all the way to the photographers.  My fellow shutterbugs learned how to interact with the models on a one on one basis, as well as setting various positions with the studio lighting.  At first, it started out rough with me personally getting lost picking up one of the models and then having to wait for the owner to open the studio, because she forgot about it.  We ended up starting later than i have planned for.  Doubt of pulling this through is starting to creep in, and already thinking this will be a disaster.  However, with some luck we managed to come through with flying colors.

So I want to take this time and give a high five to these Amazing People and a big THANK YOU!!!

First up, Marites our makeup artist/hairstylists for doing such a wonderful job working with our four models in such a short period of time. Secondly, to our Fashion Designer Debby for providing the clothing for the models.  Lastly the Models - Bridget, Esca, Erica, and Marissa for giving their time for us to create these wonderful pictures.  You Girls ROCK!!!

A day with Alyssa and her friend Andie

I went to meet Alyssa and her friend Andie who did her makeup and hair to do a photo shoot at this place called Knights Ferry, which was the same location where they filmed the little house on the Prairie.  This place was so serene and perfect for a wonderful photo shoot.  I'm planning to take the meetup group out there maybe sometime in the summer.

Sunset

Just got back from LA to help out my staff and while driving down 1-5 i cant help but admire the sun setting down the moutain range.  I took a quick snap while i'm driving :) and came up with this wonderful shot.

Photoshoot 04.14.2012

Well  what can i say i had a very good photo shoot yesterday with at least 7 models.  However, the one that strikes me is Tiffany.  She is a hidden gem in the group, cause she knows how to create natural beautiful poses and facial expression, which my camera loves.  I'm hoping to get her join my meetup as one of my featured models.

Movie night with the wife

Well we got to see the movie Wrath of the titans and i was really disappointed.  It was really messy with stories going all over the place, like an old filipino movie.  Anyway the action was good but the CGI was not.  Even the gods were not believable.  It seems that they didnt put a lot of money into the costumes to make it stand out.  Oh well, at least i got to see it with my honey pie.  That's all that matters.  Plus of course the pop corn. :)

Monterey Bay Trip

Last Friday I finally brought the family to Monterey Bay and it was an amazing trip. We also took our dog Aeley and i believe she had a great time for being able to smell the ocean breeze.   Then we went  to the famous Monterey Bay Aquarium which is shown above.

Boracay

well i just checked our family photo archive and saw these wonderful pictures from our trip to the Philippines back in 07.  These are from the famous boracay island which is only 5 kms in length i believe but it has the most gorgeous white sand you can imagine.  This is where all the europeans are staying whenever they go to the Philippines.  As well as the neighboring countries.

Intro

Life of a fashion photographer can sometimes be rewarding and frustrating.    Finding the right people to work with is essential.  Luckily i found my team of make up and hair stylists to work with on regular projects.  I'm also working on a magazine with my family and friends to contribute their work and experiences to be shared.  I'm really excited with my new venture and hoping for the best.  Til then...Ari Emmanuel
